The Part-Time Floor Technician is responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, & bonneting) areas that include offices, classrooms, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas.
· Follows all safety requirements and procedures at all times.
· Performs preventative maintenance check on all equipment prior to use at beginning and end of the shift.
· Handles floor care, including routine mopping (dry and damp), buffing and burnishing on hard surface.
· Provides floor maintenance; including but not limited to, vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting and extracting carpets, stairwells, and upholstery.
· Provides other cleaning services; such as, dusting, routine restroom, office, and classroom cleaning.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required
Minimum two years floor care cleaning and janitorial experience required.
Must have a valid state driver’s license and must be insurable through the company’s insurance carrier.
Knowledge of the materials, methods, implements and devices used in cleaning building area.
Ability to understand English and follow oral and written instructions.
Possess strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as a team player.
Possess considerable knowledge of the operation, use and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines and general house-keeping equipment.
Ability to work under pressure and time constraints (due to schedule and last minute job requests).
Ability to work a flexible schedule including any day, evening and overnight assignments and some weekends, if possible. May work extended night hours as needed.
Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with persons with disabilities.
Must be able to lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
Must be able to able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Must be able to push heavy equipment.
Must be able to engage in frequent bending, stooping, stretching and twisting.
Ability to use hands, fingers and wrists while sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, etc.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
