BrickFTP: Part-Time France Territory Inside Sales Representative for BrickFTP (French speaking required, France location preferred)

Do you absolutely love sales and get excited about the idea of scoring your next commission?
Enjoy learning about and working with software-as-a-service?
Want to boost your income without changing your lifestyle?
Do you speak French (and ideally live in France)?
Does making $1,000 a month + 10% commissions for just 10 hours a week sound good?
If so, we have an awesome, part-time career opportunity at a fun, laid-back tech company.
We’re Action Verb, and we’re looking to hire a part-time inside sales professional to join our team.  You’ll be the front line inside sales representative for BrickFTP ( for the France territory.
This is a part-time, salary + commission, work-from-home position.
BrickFTP is already actively selling in many foreign markets and we are looking to add France to our program.
We prefer folks physically located in France so you’ll be in sync with the hours.
Pay is on a contract basis, unless you are from the United States, in which case, you could instead be a W2 employee.
This could be a great add-on to anyone who is currently working from home and wants another opportunity to round out their portfolio of work.
Recruiters, please stop reading now.  We only want to talk directly to interested candidates.
Action Verb’s Story
Action Verb is a bootstrapped, profitable company founded in 2007.  Action Verb offers two main products:  BrickFTP,  a hosted file sharing service for business, and Vae Platform, a unique web hosting platform with an integrated SaaS CMS system.  Our SaaS services have over 1,800 paying customers and a total userbase of about 50,000 users.
We’re a small company (you’ll be the 11th person on the team when you join). We all work from home and communicate via Slack.
You can check out our website at

Here’s where you come in.
Although this is a sales position, it is not one of those hard-selling, cold-calling types of stressful sales jobs.
You’ll be calling and emailing warm leads who have responded to online advertising and would like to be walked through our software products before deciding to buy. Your job is simply to help them understand our software, how it can benefit them, and why they should use our software instead of our competitors.
Basically, you’ll be the “face” of our business to all our prospects.
You’ll patiently deal with users who don’t fully understand our products.  However, most of our customers are highly technical CTOs or IT director-types, so we hope that your time will be spent mostly with high-level customers who understand our products.
You’ll have the support of our 4 staff engineers and 4 other sales staff in case the sales calls get too technical.
BrickFTP is an easy product to sell.  Our customers are businesses and the price point is just $49 per month, so this is not a high-pressure sales situation.  Also remember that these are warm leads who opted-in asking for a phone call.
You will also be responsible for front-line customer support in your language/market.  Any issue you can resolve yourself, you’ll resolve, and anything else you’ll work with our English-speaking support engineers to resolve.  You may have to get on conference calls to translate for our customers if necessary.
Here are the details of the Pay.
Pay is $25 per hour for 10 hours per week plus 10% of the annual value of any package that you sell.  We expect the average commission to be about $100.
Each market receives an average of 200 quality leads per month, and we expect that a good sales person will be able to convert them at 10-20%.
What skills are we looking for?
We are looking for you to have:

Perfect phone demeanor and ability to communicate effectively via the phone.
Perfect grammar and professional tone via email.
Basic understanding of the technical aspects of hosting.
Fluency in English and French.
Previous experience doing telephone-based inside sales, ideally in a software or technology related business.

What makes this opportunity unique?
A really awesome team.  The team includes a strong technical founder and four other top technical engineers and operations folks.  We’ll have your back and do everything in our power to make your job as easy as possible.
Work from home.  There’s nothing we hate more than commuting.  So, we don’t have an office and would definitely like to avoid having one for as long as possible.  If you have a family at home, move between locations, or even live abroad, this is a great opportunity to do all your work from home and stop wasting all that time on commuting.   It’s like getting 2 free hours added back to your day.
Choose your own hours. As long as you’re available to take calls and return calls during the business hours of your market, we’re flexible with exactly when you work during the day.  Work 2 hours, then run and take the kids to lunch, come back and work another 3 hours.  We work highly variable hours so we’ll be able to sync up no matter when you work.  We do have full team meetings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 3:30pm Eastern, so those are required as well.
Free travel.  Because we’re a distributed team that all work from home, we go out of our way bring the team together in person a couple times a year.  We speak at a number of industry conferences (think PubCon, AdTech, Affiliate Summit, etc.) and at various Internet Marketing meetups, summits, and training sessions.  When it makes sense, and when we can, we’d like to bring you along.
We use these as an opportunity to get the team together to relax, work, brainstorm, and party with our customers and each other.
Some of these trips will be in conjunction with the programming and marketing teams from our other companies, so you’ll get to meet the “extended family” as well.
Stability.  Action Verb is bootstrapped, profitable, adequately capitalized, and debt-free.  We are committed to continuously improving our customer experience and believe that our products will never be “finished.”

BrickFTP: Holacracy-Powered BrickFTP Seeks Senior Developer to Fill Systems and Application Development And Other Roles. Ruby, Java, C++.

Hi there.  We’re Action Verb and we build Infrastructure-as-a-Service products.  We’ve been around for almost 10 years, operate profitably, and will probably make the Inc 5000 list this year.
We offer two main products:  BrickFTP,  a hosted file sharing service for business, and Vae Platform, a unique web hosting platform with an integrated CMS system.  Our IaaS services have over 1,800 paying business customers.
We’re small, happy, and we avoid the Silicon Valley startup culture that encourages growth over sustainability.  We treat each full time team member like family.  We have 5 full time staff now (plus 5 part time) and we’re looking to grow our family by one or two faces.

As a company, we are one of the early adopters of Holacracy, a new style of running an organization in a self-organizing manner that draws inspiration from agile software development and lean manufacturing processes.  (
Rather than hiring people for exactly one job description, we instead look to find well rounded team members with skills in software engineering, design, marketing, sales, and our other needs who are interested in filling multiple roles within the organization.
As a self-organizing team, our people have multiple roles and our role descriptions are regularly updated via small iterations.  The roles you take on are intended to change over time as your interests change and our needs change.
“Most startups believe in iteration of their products. Now they need to apply the same thinking to their organizations.”
— Adam Pisoni, Yammer co-founder & CTO
At Action Verb, you don’t have a boss.  Your work is executed autonomously, without micromanagement.
But Holacracy is not unstructured: you’ll have a clear understanding of your current roles and responsibilities, as well as a set of rules and processes for changing those roles and responsibilities in real time.
Our team members work from home and choose their own hours, allowing them to make time for family, recreation, vacations, or anything that is important to them.
Our team members also work hard, are constantly learning, and accomplish a ton for the company in the time that they are working.  That’s why we consistently pay above-market rates for talent and are generous with raises and bonuses.

We believe that building great products requires great infrastructure.  We have Continuous Integration, a full staging environment, and almost 100% test coverage.  We built our own application deployment system.  We self-manage our server stack on Amazon EC2 and custom hardware.
We believe in using the right tool for the job.  Our core applications are built in Ruby, JavaScript, Java, C++, and PHP.  We use Rails, React, Chef, Qt, Jenkins, Github, Honeybadger, CircleCI, Maven, AWS, MySQL, Redis, Memcached, Haml, Sass, and many other exciting open source systems.
We run Linux (Ubuntu) on our servers, but we support Linux and MacOS as development environments.
We believe that the best engineers tend to be polyglots with lots of experience.  We’re looking for someone who can bring the following things to the table:

Solid web development skills in HTML, CSS, and Javascript.  Even though we have lots of backend work to keep several people busy, our business is so web-facing that we think every engineer should be familiar with web technologies.
Firm understanding of how to write secure code and an awareness of common web application security vulnerabilities.
Testing and the ability to write specs (we use Rspec for our Ruby/Java applications)
Ability to prioritize and make decisions without needing to be micromanaged
History developing actual SaaS applications that have seen production usage with real customers.
Truly interested in giving our customers a great experience and able to communicate directly with customers and prospects

We believe that open-source only works if companies give back.  If you work on any open-source projects during the course of your work at Action Verb, you are encouraged to submit your improvements as a pull request back to the upstream project.  And if you build something from scratch while working here that’s generic and not related to our core products, we want you to release that on GitHub too.  We’ll also pay your travel costs to any conference where you can get a speaking gig.
We believe that our products will never be finished.  We are committed to continuously improving our customer experience.  We constantly reach out to our customers to learn about new ways that we can help them get their job done.
Tell us about what you believe.  Please use the link to go to our jobs site to send in your application now.  We only read cover letters in our first screening round, so make sure yours counts.  Specifically, we’d like you to address the following topics:

What is your level of experience with Holacracy?  Had you heard about it prior to this posting?  Do you have any questions about it?
What is your level of experience with a remote team?
What would be your ideal focus areas and roles within the company?  (Please understand that our current needs are mostly on the application and systems development side.)
